Naomi here, from Beat Down Boogie’s Modern War Gear Solid series, with a post for all the fans out there. (If you have not seen the series yet, start at episode 1, which you can find at the end of these tips.) This female scientist is super giddy for Halloween! It’s a time for tricks and treats, and things that go bump in the night. But before you set forth into the spookiest night of the year, here are some geeky safety tips, inspired by the Modern War Gear Solid series:
1-Keep “abreast” of your eye care by wearing shades, especially in daylight hours.

2- Use OctoCamo sparingly and remain seen at night. Sure there is a time and a place for OctoCamo, but if you are trying to remain visible, wear an accessory like skeleton gloves that glow in the dark, as part of your costume.
3-Carry a light saber with you. It helps illuminate dark walkways, abandoned warehouses, and can be used as a weapon if you encounter any giant mech robots.
4-Safety in numbers. Whether you are heading out to a party or trick or treating, you are always safer in a group. The more the merrier. For example, instead of just Snake and Ghost going out, it’s best to go out with Snake, Ghost, Naomi, and Octacon.
5-Say “no” to strange….mustaches! Inspect all mustaches before you put them on and don’t share your mustache with others.
6-Carry a cell phone or access to some kind of com-link. Also, make sure people know how to reach you. This is especially important in emergencies. Remember, there is always time to make and receive important calls.
7-Stay alert for any suspicious incidents or strange boxes, and report anything unusual to
the proper authorities. Also, never get in a strangers box, even if they offer candy or say they “need” this.
8-Map out your plan. Treat your Halloween night like a mission and have a strategy. Remember the “fate” of your Halloween night “is in your hands now.”
Hope your Halloween is epic this year!
