Modern War Gear Solid series, with a post for all the fans out there. (If you have not seen the series yet, start at episode 1, which you can find at the end of these tips.) This female scientist is super giddy for Halloween! It’s a time for tricks and treats, and things that go bump in the night. But before you set forth into the spookiest night of the year, here are some geeky safety tips, inspired by the Modern War Gear Solid series:
1-Keep “abreast” of your eye care by wearing shades, especially in daylight hours.
2- Use OctoCamo sparingly and remain seen at night. Sure there is a time and a place for OctoCamo, but if you are trying to remain visible, wear an accessory like skeleton gloves that glow in the dark, as part of your costume. Continue reading →
I cannot believe that I just came back from my third consecutive Dragon*Con! Three and and a half years ago, I did not even know what D*C was! (Gasp!) For those that may be new geeks in training, D*C
happens in Atlanta, Georgia and ”is the largest multi-media, popular culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the universe!”
Here are some of the many “Pros” of the “Con” (pun intended!)
P – The “P” is for the people! They are what make D*C what it is, all 40,000+ of them! Everyone is super friendly, and you get to see amazing costumes! I made a ton of new friends this year! I walked around in costume, with guys from Beat Down Boogie
! No, I am not joking. Who knew? In order to celebrate this month you should really watch this video, especially if you are concerned about a potential zombie apocalypse!
This video is from the internet show Immersion! After you watch the video, leave a comment letting me know what you think and if you are in the mood for watermelon. You’ll see.
May the 4rth be with you to all my geeks and geeks in training out there! Happy Unofficial Star Wars Day!
Today is the day geeks everywhere rejoice in saying , “May the 4rth be with you.” I am sure my husband is pretty bummed I didn’t say it to him this morning! It is a day to celebrate everything Star Wars. What you do not even know about Star Wars? Have no fear, there is no shame here!
Below is a video which is a pretty good summarized version of the whole saga, in LEGOS! This should catch you up to speed!
Wonder Woman: “Okay…I’m a little confused as to where this is coming from, but yes, of course I know. We’ve had our…differences, particularly of late, but I think it all boils down to…you have one sense of how things ought to be…and I often have another. I’m not sure that’s a bad thing. It’s what makes life interesting.” (From WONDER WOMAN #170 by Phil Jiminez)
For David E. Kelley’s newest project, he will try to put his spin on Wonder Woman for a new pilot, yet to be picked up. Okay, chic moment. You have to check out the new outfit. I am not digging the pants at all. The top is nice. It is sexy.
I just came across a Star Wars documentary film. It is called A Galaxy Far, Far Away, but it is apparently very close to Geekville! This is not a new documantary. It was produced in 2000. I am sure there are hundreds more that exist! Do you know of any? If so, post a link in the comments area.
I dedicate this post to my geeky husband. This film is about 64 minutes long. It is past my Geek Girl in Training film time limit, so Continue reading →
I had the good fortune of meeting “Intertainers” Rhett and Link at the Blue Sky Film Festival in Chapel Hill. I helped do the social media for the festival and helped volunteer as well. We were sold out for the Rhett and Link block. We were very honored that they both came and showed several videos, answered questions, sold merchandise, signed autographs and took pictures. They even hung out for a bit at the local bar after with festival guests.
This year is a Geek Girl in Training first! It is my first time having my own Christmas tree, my first Christmas married, and my first time putting STAR WARS ornaments or any type of geeky ornament on the tree!
